76 Memphis RARE Vintage L-5 style - super 400 Replica guitar Crafted in Japan...True Law suit Model.. We have had several these Japanese vintage Memphis L-5's in the past and each one we have been very pleased with its sound produced with this large Jazz box body...always quite impressed with the quality of build and excellent woods used to construct these fine players and are under the radar of the MIJ lovers. This guitar is truly a solid value in an excellent playing Jazz box. Not bad at all for its age JVG Condition rated used and 34 years old a solid 8+ to 8.5/10 very good - excellent vintage...not new or mint with some small dings and dangs w/ a minor electrical issue for that reason sold as a project but it is still BEAUTIFUL vintage sunburst looks like the real deal and plays surprisingly well for the handy guy save $. Great tone from the humbucking pickups the bottom appears to be a DiMarzio and the neck is a noiseless Barden type variety old pots a bit scratchy could use a clean up & use. The neck is a slim profile and is set up well and has good action all the way up with no dead spots at all it has Gibson Jazz 12's Ole school flat wound strings on and the tone is wonderful ole G!b$on tribute. The tuners work fine still and the guitar stays in tune well, intonation is good, frets at 80% so issues, bindings all in tact aged to a amber-ish and some checking on the slightly visible yet no significant degrading. Here we are very proud to present another Absolutely Beautiful Japanese Vintage guitar that is to also be considered a vintage work of art...This is one of the finer examples of this guitar we have ever seen..... This is the Very Rare Vintage 1978 Ibanez Model 2453! Howard Roberts Fusion Law suit era high quality replica guitar that has in many ways exceeded the originals in our opinion. " A true work of art! OK... where it starts / Epiphone, owned by Gibson's parent company, they introduced the first Howard Roberts model in 1964 in limited numbers. An aclomplished jazz player, H. Roberts' had a great desire for better acoustics , this led to the unique central oval sound hole (instead of the usual double f-hole configuration) and the floating pickup (like Gibson's Johnny Smith model) mounted just above it. In the early 1970's Ibanez began their era of "Faithful High Quality Reproductions" where they copied classic American-made solid body electric Gibson, Fender, and Rickenbacker models. Shortly afterward came the acoustic and hollowbody model replicas were introduced, including Guild and Martin flattops, too. As Ibanez began to capture more market share the folks at Gibson took a very serious look into this, which led them to a lawsuit filed by Gibson against Ibanez in 1977 for obvious copyright infringement, specifically it boiled down to the "open book" headstock image. Therefore the only true "lawsuit" instruments are Gibson copies made by Ibanez and several others of course making guitars with that Gibson exact "open book " style headstock shape . By the time the lawsuit was resolved Ibanez had decided to and had actually already changed their headstock design to a Guild-style headstock profile. This guitar is a TRUE LAW SUIT guitar the one with THE CORRECT Gibson profile headstock the most sought after in the line.... This is the "2453 model". Ibanez came out with Model 2453 HR around 1974, offering it in lesser grade burgundy and the higher Flame Maple grade the more translucent finish in the Cherry sunburst finish. This example features a AAAA Flame Maple body with a 22-fret three-piece figured maple neck. The neck is set, and is not bolt-on like many Ibanez guitars of this period. The top and peghead overlay is multi-bound and the back is single-bound. Other features include bound High Grade Rosewood fingerboard with slotted block MOP inlay, adjustable wooden bridge with inlaid base, gold hardware, single PAF type pickup, and a special control configuration (volume, mid-range, treble roll-off). A fancy tailpiece and ornate headstock inlay complete the look. This HRF is in excellent condition and is a very smooth Jazz player. It was handcrafted in Japan. The original celluloid tortoiseshell pickguard is still in very good condition and is on board this is unusual for many of these as I have seen many with already deteriorated guards ..not this one..., Overall the body and finish are in outstanding shape, just a few minor small blemishes here and there but none that will greatly detract for here beauty. The back of the neck is smooth and fast and the fingerboard and frets are nearly perfect, showing very minimal play wear. .

Just in.....Yet another Top of the line Japanese Vintage Guitar this one is also Early Pre Law Suit Ibanez L5 Jazz Box in rare form AAAA flamed blond beauty! Here we have just in stock is a real Vintage American made Harmony Meteor electric guitar with 2- great sounding strong & tonfull DeArmond pickups... All original from 1964 with the onlt exception being the pick-guard is an exact replica replacement and the logo on the headstock fell off and was lost by the original owner and we purchased the exact replica replacement ... all electronics are 100% original and work just like they always have this guitar sounds GREAT!... Here we have a real vintage Classic a real fine example of the classic 1963 Silvertone 1446L Electric hollowbody - in Black finish- This guitar has undeniable STAGE PRESENTS. Distributed by Sears & Roebuck back in the day Production year(s) : 1961-1967 This is THE model to own its the one that used the mini Paf Gibson mini Humbucking pickups and they never used these pickups on any other Harmony Silvertone or Airline guitar, so there is no Harmony equivalent of this very cool model if you haven't heard one like this live your going to be pleasently supprised to say the least. This is the one to own with some really great tone ... this example has that classic bell ring crisp tone these models are know for it also came with the classic Bigsby vibrato which is again VERY COOL. This model Silvertone was used by so many greats for recording & live performances back in the day Used by the likes of Hubert Sumlin (with Howlin Wolf) and more recently by the soulful Chris Isaac (his first album was named "Silvertone". Early 60's Sears catalogs from (61-62) show the guitar with different pickups (P13) and pickup's rings, but no samples are seen with others. Pickups are articulate and can switch to warm jazz tones with ease. Turn up the gain or plug into an overdrive/ sustain and you are in tone heaven. Overall the guitar is in remarkable excellent + vintage used condition especially considering its a 37 year old Vintage Guitar. Frets are still nice and level. The intonation is DEAD ON and the ACTION is PERFECT nice & LOW and silky smooth.I do not think you will be more pleased with a $3500 Gibson Custom Shop es335 as you will be with this vintage beauty. I could simply say she cleaned up pretty... but read on please This one in fact is an exact replica of the 1968 Gibson Barney Kessel the famous Jazz great, This like the originals by Gibson is a high end set neck example as they also used high quality woods AAA maple woods and this type of neck built this way is considered to be among the strongest type construction build method, it has the #5 vertical leingth pieces being large center and 2 outter pieces of figured maple as seen with the 2 1/8" thick full leingth thinner pieces of walnut making this neck super strong neck & neck joint and in this case this neck also still shines and feels as if it were new to this day what a great and well built guitar this example truly is, It's workmanship is nothing short of Gibson class.. even Gibson has seconds but this is a First Quality example in every aspect. Greco of Japan some 30 years before made This GRECO SA-500 and is masterfully finished in a stunning Iced Tea Sunburst finish over a beautifully AAAA flamed maple. Made in JAPAN by Fuji Gen Gakki in 1980. If you don't know much about Greco this is the great Ibanez higher end guitars think Toyota - Lexus if you will... Construction wise there is a wood block like the original es335's under the bridge as a true semi-hollow...not full hollowbody. This baby is equiped with the preferable stop tail bridge Therefore, it's resonates more and produces a fuller more dynamic, more jazzy tone as well as soulful blues tones if you will without any of the excessive feedback issues associated with the full hollowbody guitars. NOTE: This model sa500 pre dates the 339 by some 3 decades Gibson actually copied the Greco sa in this case.This example comes with a beautiful Dark rosewood fretboard and excellent frets showing only minimal wear. overall in beautiful condition for a 32 year old vintage axe. As you may know In the early 70's Ibanez was one of the top builders that set out to make high-precision replicas of the most loved Gibson's top-end instruments. So successful were they that Gibson sued to stop production, which was subsequently halted under court order. Now known as the actual 'lawsuit' models, these guitars have become legendary for their quality beauty and rarity, and theirfaithful accuracy to the original designs. Crunchy and searing rock tones poured out of a Rivera Thirty-Twelve when I plugged into the high-gain channel, though attempts at punk sounds were less convincing, and country twang was entirely out of the question. In my estimation, the AS193AV provides a slightly different twist on ES-335 sound, and at a lower price. This is a lot of guitar for the money. .

The Matsumoku factory custom shop is one of the top Premier builders in Japan famously know for building most of the finest guitars to ever come out of Japan and that is saying a lot.. ....the list goes on & on This is the top of the line model and is a true 30+ year old Vintage guitar in its own right this one was made in 1983. This guitar has undergone some additional refinments to the frets -and are wonderfully re-leveled-crowned-polished in detail and are in amazing playing condition. SOLD OUT: Here we had a very well crafted es335 type thie example is from one of Japan's finest and most prolific Lawsuit era guitar factories Matsumoku and are the makers of other familiar names like Aria,Lyle and so many other greats, I also had an Elecrta it was identical to this Cherry Flame top & back but it was blond maple, this Cherry beauty is just that really nice color and what you may not see so well in thes picturse is this is a really nicely figured flame maple top & back to this but red guitars for some reason is hard to tale pictures that allow the net viewer to see all the detail... this has a big flame maple top & back wow but pics make it look more plain but for now you can seee how very nice and pretty darn clean for a vintage guitar approching 40 years old..it looks more like its 3 or 4 years...the finish still shines up very nicely to this day not new or mint of course but better than average for sure with just a few nicks on the top that have been preserved and touched up with matching see threw cherry lacquer to prevent further chipping and it looks very nice snd really shines up nicely front & back pretty good for a 40 year old. This guitar seems to be all original too I will soon open it up to check but it sounds just awesome now so assume to be the original paf style humbuckers and are very likely Maxon made which was used in so many of Japan's higher end guitars built from the early 70's threw the 80's.... anyway it plays nicely too the neck is good its nice and straight and frets still 90% and no funny buzzing or issues really nice... Just freshly released from our JVG Vintage Vault and what a beauty she is just have a good look.... This is a masterfully built example in both materials and workmanship you simply must see to believe what they were doing back in 1977... that's nearly 40 years ago no way this guitar is that old you say... ahhhh but she is and its been well taken care of all of its years, adult 1-owner guitar past.. the owner had tried other pickups I understand he had Gibson professionally put in at some time then decided to return the guitar to ts former glory and put these wonderful original Japanese crafted PAF replica pickups made by Maxon of Japan they are TONE Experts and are responsible for a lot of great products one of which is the famous TS808 overdrive pedal that are so height prized and sought after today they fetch upwards of $1000 now days.. I have had a few TS808's myself and the vintage units do scream vintage tone & sustain.. same as these Maxon made pickups.. enough about that now onto the details of this guitar besides the Maxons are awesome...This Aria named this model #5502N Aria is like my favorite division of the great prolific Matsumoku clan if you will ... and this es-335n is just another reason why.. Nearly identical to our recently sold Penco version this Aria is even more beautiful than it was which was something special too.. this guitar has some really nice patina to it with its beautiful blond finish showing off its amazing woods and now over the past 37 years or so it truly has deepened in color and its even more appealing with its natural patina.This looks just like the vintage late 50's Gibson es335... t has that vibe... This NECKs build style employs a very unique type neck joint design that uses a very tight fit like the set-neck but has the bolt function option to do any fine tuning adjustments in the future if ever needed ..I have not had one like this that ever needed it though.. OK..so you see 2 screws in the back plate to attach it but what you do not see is under the neck pickup it has a long tenon type joint also good because the pickup is directly over it and in that area you will find 2 more screws screwing it down in the other direction this make this neck extremely tight & as a result more resonant like a set neck design.. very ingenious and handy to for travel or shipping because it can easily be taken apart and put back together n a matter of minutes... this neck design I was quite impressed with as I am with the rest of this guitar. The neck is a medium slim taper with a width of 1-11/16ths at the nut. Frets are still excellent, action is low and amazing and s very ez to play this is a great guitar all round.. it has a new set of gold Gibson US tuners I installed when it came in as the old original tuners were tweaked - bent and not functioning to the level this guitar deserved as was its weak point so I installed an expensive set of Gold Gibson's so that will never be an issue with this guitar you see no additional holes on back and looks stock still... The guitar ws built by a master of that I have no doubt as it has fully stood the test of time nearly 40 years old and n this sort of condition with its alignment true and straight and as it is that is. The materials chosen to build this guitar is also AAAA as well. Factor in its overall condition, beauty its excellent play-ability its kinda ez to see its a great one...
